Join Hearth as our Honorary Treasurer

Hearth Historic Buildings Trust is seeking an Honorary Treasurer to join our volunteer Committee.

It is an exciting time to become involved with Hearth as we progress the regeneration of Riddel’s Warehouse in the heart of Belfast. This is one of the city’s most important surviving industrial buildings, and your support will help ensure its future.

As a Trustee, you will work alongside fellow Committee members and the staff team to support the delivery of the charity’s mission. We offer an informed, friendly and professional environment.

About the Role

The Committee meets every six weeks for a meeting lasting between one hour and one and a half hours. The Honorary Treasurer plays a key role in overseeing Hearth’s financial management and governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial oversight, ensuring accurate records and compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements.
  • Monitor the charity’s bank accounts and authorise payments.
  • Produce a brief financial report for each Committee meeting, highlighting any financial risks or opportunities.
  • Complete quarterly VAT returns.
  • Liaise with the charity’s Accountants to support the completion of annual accounts and independent examinations.
  • Keep the charity’s accounting records up to date.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with experience in:

  • Accounting or financial management
  • Preparing or reviewing VAT returns
  • Working with charitable organisations or committees (this is desirable but not essential)
  • An interest in historic buildings conservation is an advantage, though not required.
